Eighth C-5B makes Super Galaxy

August 16-31, 2011

The sun shines above the newest addition to the C-5M modernisation programme. Tail number 85-0003, a C-5B Galaxy, is the eighth aircraft inducted into modernisation production line to become a Super Galaxy. There are two more inductions scheduled for 2011.

This aircraft is based at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. It was first delivered to Dover AFB on November 4, 1986. Throughout its career, this aircraft has supported the warfighter’s operations in Desert Storm and, since 2003, it has delivered cargo in locations such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Italy, Germany, Japan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Qatar, Spain and Turkey. Tail number 85-0003 has accumulated more than 19,000 flight hours and more than 4,500 full-stop landings.
