Macro USA has released the Beetle Nano unmanned ground vehicle (N-UGV). The Beetle is the smallest four wheel drive N-UGV to use coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (COFDM) technology.
The Beetle N-UGV system is designed to retrieve visual and audio information from areas that are difficult or dangerous to access by the operators.
The robot is a throwable system with four wheels which presents several advantages over the ball type and two wheel designed systems currently in the market. The system has a day/night tilt camera, capable of tilting +/- 90 degrees, audio microphone, IR and white LEDs, global positioning system (GPS), and Tracksorb wheels for increased mobility.
The Beetle unit not only has the capability of providing 360° coverage of the area, but thanks to the motorised design, can also be moved within the area to optimise the observation point and enlarge the area that can be monitored.
