Lt General P.R. Kumar to take over as DGMO
Lt General P.R. Kumar will take over as DGMO, tomorrow from Lt General Vinod Bhatia who will retire today. Lt General P.R. Kumar is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned into The Regiment of Artillery on 15 Dec 1976. The General Officer is a graduate from Staff College, Wellington and has also attended the prestigious Higher Command & National Defence College Courses.
During his long and illustrious career, he has held a variety of Command, Staff & Instructional assignments. The General Officer is an Aviator and he commanded a Medium Regiment, an Infantry Brigade in the North & an Infantry Division in the East. He commanded the prestigious Strike Corps, on the South Western Front, before taking over as Director General Army Aviation. Apart from an extremely successful Army Career, the General Officer is a keen sportsman.
