Avanti Communications (“Avanti”), a global multi-orbit provider of fully integrated connectivity services and solutions and Orbit Communications Systems Ltd., a leading provider of airborne communications solutions, today announced that the Orbit MPT 30WGX airborne Ka-band multi-purpose terminal (“MPT”) has completed the Network Access Process, and may therefore be used across the entirety of Avanti’s satellite network.

The MPT 30WGX terminal meets the pervasive connectivity needs of Avanti’s military and commercial airborne users, enabling a seamless transition between commercial Ka-band and Mil Ka services. This compact, lightweight, and low-power (SWaP) terminal offers speeds of up to 126 Mbps for forward link and 29 Mbps for return link, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity throughout all flight phases.

The versatile terminal fits onto various aircraft systems, including special mission aircraft, helicopters, and UAVs and is compliant with industry standards to integrate seamlessly with military satellite systems. This integration makes it an optimal choice for government airborne Intelligence, Reconnaissance, and Surveillance (ISR) applications.

Asaf Punis, VP of Business Development, Orbit, said: “We are proud of this cooperation with Avanti. This MPT 30WGX design, coupled with Avanti network makes it an ideal solution across EMEA and part of ASIA missions that transmit large volumes of data, including military aircraft and UAVs. This is yet another step of Orbit’s expansion into significant markets worldwide”.

Donald Walker, Senior Vice President of Government & Defence at Avanti said: “The collaboration with Orbit marks a significant step in enhancing our network capabilities for the European and African markets. The addition of the MPT 30WGX terminal to our network further solidifies our commitment to providing cutting-edge connectivity solutions for both commercial and military aviation users.”
