Chile demonstrates army-built small UAV
Chile’s indigenously-developed small unmanned aerial vehicle, Lascar, has been shown to the Defence Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter before making its first flight. “Lascar” has been under development since 2008 and is now in testing phase.
The “Lascar” prototype was developed by the Army in collaboration with the University of Concepción and Private Enterprise.
Among its many uses, the minister emphasised monitoring of water sources, of volcanoes, natural disasters as well as rescue operations, fire monitoring and fisheries surveillance.
