IAF to launch mobile air combat game Thursday

July 01, 2014: The Indian Air Force will be releasing its long-awaited mobile air combat game, titled 'Guardians Of The Skies' on July 3. Touted to be India's first 3D air combat game, GOTS will feature playability across mobile platforms and will be released by the IAF's Air Officer Personnel in the presence of children, who will be invited to try out the game live. Users of the game will initially only be able to fly the Su-30MKI in a range of missions. The second phase of the game will introduce other platforms including the Mi-17 chopper, Mirage 2000 and Tejas fighters. Missions are expected to include interdiction, air to air combat, reconnaissance, air dominance, precision strike and maritime strike. Helicopter missions will include humanitarian missions and special heliborne operations both at land and sea. The new game, developed for the IAF by Indian firm Threye, will be free to download and could include a multiplayer options in a later phase.
