On January 24, 2012, 1,695 cadres of nine different militant outfits, namely, Adivasi Cobra Militant of Assam (ACMA), Birsha Commando Force (BCF), Adivasi People’s Army (APA), All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA), Santhal Tiger Force (STF), Kuki Revolutionary Army (KPA), United Kukigam Defence Army (UKDA), Kuki Liberation Organisation (KLO)/Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) and Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) (HPC-D) laid down arms in the presence of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and the Chief Minister of Assam to find out solution of their demands through negotiation with the Government.
State Government of Assam has been requested to take action for rehabilitation of the militants who had surrendered in a time bound manner. Action has also been initiated to address their grievances, according to the Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran.
