R.K. Mathur takes over as Defence Secretary
R.K. Mathur is the new Defence Secretary of India. Mathur who took over as the Defence Secretary on May 25, replaced Shashi Kant Sharma who has taken charge as the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India.
A 1977 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Manipur-Tripura cadre, Mathur did his B.Tech from IIT Kanpur, M.Tech from IIT Delhi and MBA from International Centre for Public Enterprises, Ljubljana.
He has held many important positions in the Government of Tripura, has served as Principal Secretary in the Agriculture, Rural Development and Finance Departments of the Government of Tripura. He was also Chief Secretary of Tripura.
