ICEYE, the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space, today announced the formal establishment of ICEYE India, operating from New Delhi. This extends the company's presence into one of the world's most significant defence and space markets.
The establishment of ICEYE India comes as the country marks National Space Day, highlighting the growing strategic importance of space-based capabilities to India's national security, resilience and technology ambitions. ICEYE's expanding presence in India reflects the increasing relevance of advanced Earth observation and sovereign intelligence capabilities to the country's evolving space and defence ecosystem.
ICEYE India's immediate priority is supporting India's defence and intelligence customers to access advanced intelligence capabilities and solutions that strengthen national security and resilience, alongside broader engagement with the country's space and defence ecosystem through supply-chain participation, technology validation, and local capability building.
The entity is also the platform for ICEYE's manufacturing plans in India. The company intends to build production capability in-country, serving Indian defence, surveillance, and environmental monitoring requirements through local sourcing, local suppliers, and local engineering talent.
Rafal Modrzewski, CEO and Co-founder of ICEYE, said: "ICEYE India means real engineering and manufacturing capability on the ground. We're excited to build this together with the government and local partners and to support India as it strengthens its own sovereign intelligence capability."
ICEYE is exploring collaboration across the Indian space and defence ecosystem, including launch capabilities, electronics and component manufacturers, and technology partners. The company's model in every country is to build industrial capability locally, an approach that aligns with Aatmanirbhar Bharat objectives.
