On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Armed Forces Transfusion Centre, organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at Kartavya Bhavan-2, New Delhi on October 1, 2026. The theme of this year's campaign was 'One Drop of Humanity, Give Blood, Save Lives.'
The blood donation drive was conducted under the supervision of a dedicated medical team comprising two Medical Officers, two Junior Commissioned Officers and 10 Paramedical Staff (Blood Transfusion Assistants), with the requisite medical equipment and facilities in place. A total of 134 officers and officials of the Ministry of Defence participated in the drive. Prior to donation, all donors underwent counselling and health screening to ensure their safety and compliance with prescribed medical standards.
The camp highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and encouraged officers and officials to contribute towards saving precious lives. Chief of Defence Staff and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs General N.S. Raja Subramani; Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh; Secretary, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Smt Sukriti Likhi, along with senior officers and officials of the Ministry of Defence, participated in the camp and contributed to the initiative.
The initiative reaffirmed the Ministry of Defence's commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and supporting efforts to ensure the availability of safe blood for patients in need.
